1 / 2Donahue (Margaret) Park
📍 Lake View, IL
Fully enclosed playground with soft rubber surfaces, play structures for ages 1–6, summer water features including sprayers and a misting ring, and an artificial turf field bearing the Cubs logo.
Beautiful playground in the city of Chicago. Good spot to watch the fireworks from too. Only con is that because it's so big, it's easy for kids to get lost in.. especially the huge bridge/slide play area.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children ages 1–6, particularly in summer when water features run. The enclosed design, soft surfaces, and age-appropriate structures make it a go-to for toddler-heavy groups.

“This neighborhood playground is definitely a destination playground. The fully enclosed play area features a soft rubber play surface, an artificial turf field (with the Cubs logo befitting it's location close to Wrigley Field and the namesake of the park - Margaret Donahue), several benches, and picnic tables covered by large shade umbrellas. The two play structures are both solid; one is designed for younger children and the other is designed for older children and features cues to famous Chicago skyscrapers at the tops. There is also a large net climbing feature and the normal variety of swings. The standout features of this playground, though, are the water features. There is a three part overhead shower-like sprayer, a misting ring, a few jets coming from a mosaic wall, and an interactive water table. Given all the amenities, this playground is popular in the summer months and for good reason - this is a great playground.”

“This playground is perfect. It has several structures for a good range of ages (something like age 1-6), a water area (active in summer), a large lawn area and multiple seating options. It is well maintained and in a nice quiet neighborhood with a walking distance to restaurants and coffee shops. Its size and arrangement is perfect for a small and large audience. As a parent you can feel safe as there is only 1 entrance, and it doesn't feel too crowded even with a lot of crowd. Parking can be an issue on busy days.”

“Amazing park to play and have lunch. Areas to spread out a picnic blanket or sit at one of the shaded tables that also have space between seats for wheelchairs or strollers. That was super nice for my son with his broken leg to be able to sit with us. There is a water area, variety of play equipment including slides, swings and ropes to climb as well as a few community toys and water tables.”
