1 / 2Flat Rock Brook Nature Center
📍 Englewood, NY
A 150-acre Englewood preserve with 3.6 miles of maintained hiking trails leading to cascading streams, wetlands, and meadows. Features an adventure wooden playground, rescue raptors in an on-site aviary, and free seasonal guided hikes every Tuesday.
Wonderful outdoor adventure playground. Such a well maintained little forest adventure playground for young kids. The water is running and clean and safe for even the youngest kiddos to enjoy. There are plenty of benches and picnic tables nearby. There's a public restroom right over the bridge. The playground itself is small but unique. Wooden natural climbing structures, balance beams, a slide and a little music section. Bring water shoes, a change of clothes, a towel and sand toys for a day of outdoor fun! Parking is limited on Jones Street but I parked on a nearby cross street and walked.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with toddlers through elementary-age children who want genuine outdoor nature exploration rather than a manicured park. The wooden adventure playground and safe running streams are the twin draws for younger kids.

“OVERALL: A great hidden gem in Englewood with easy access yet a calm, quiet, and spacious park. PARKING: Good amount of parking, can get full quickly. TRAILS: Trails are maintained well but still have a natural feeling, a lot of really nice and long walks with so much varying scenery. INFORMATION CENTER: A nice little building by the parking lot that has additional information about the park, great for kids to explore. WATERFALL: I loved the waterfall, it was so calm and peaceful, but also a great place for kids to climb through rocks, etc.”
