Its free for San Diego residents! Lots to do for kiddos with hands on experiments. Learn about the Solar System, cause and effect, world terrains are form...how tornadoes form as well. They can spin, build and watch things work....great for learning and inspiring young minds on Science and Physics. Your entry comes with a free Imax showing in the Planetarium! Today we watched the Blue Angels Soar! Last time we watched Deep Sky ...about space shuttles, planets and galaxies. Gorgeous Imax presentations! You can stroll Balboa park afterwards, parking is no longer free, but if you have a SD Zoo membership itll be Free! Customer service very friendly and inviting.... fun for the whole family!

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children ages 5 through early teens who respond to hands-on learning over passive display. The IMAX inclusion with admission delivers strong value. San Diego residents get free entry — bring proof of residency. Children consistently resist leaving, so plan for longer than the suggested two hours.

“The String Quartet Range Ensemble was absolutely amazing. They perform for 60 minutes which just fly by. Both my wife and could sit for hours listening to this quartet perform. The Fever event staff & ushers were all very personable and helpful. A well organized event. My wfe and I look forward to attending many more Candlelight concerts in the forseeable future.”

“It was a unique experience to watch and hear the music of ABBA and Queen brought back to life in a different dimension. The extraordinary talents of the Range Ensemble string quartet gave a wonderful tribute to this music. We enjoyed watching it and will come back for other shows. Thank you for this wonderful experience!!!”

“Came here as a kid on school fieldtrips and always had a blast with the interactive exhibits. A wonderful way to spark science/engineering interest. Despite being geared toward a younger audience, my 11/13/15 year old kids all had to be dragged out. Watching them have the same fun I did as a child was wonderful!”
