📍 Atlanta, TX
Atlanta's Georgia Aquarium features a 100-foot underwater tunnel with whale sharks and manta rays, dolphin and sea lion shows, penguin and beluga encounters, and diving experiences. Cafe and parking on-site.
The Georgia Aquarium is an absolute masterpiece and truly one of the most magnificent experiences you can find in Atlanta. The highlight is the Ocean Voyager gallery, where you can walk through a 100-foot underwater tunnel and watch massive whale sharks and manta rays glide right over your head. It is one of the few places in the world where you can see these "gentle giants" up close, and the floor-to-ceiling viewing window in that exhibit is simply breathtaking. Beyond the sharks, the dolphin and sea lion presentations are high-energy, world-class shows that showcase incredible animal intelligence and athleticism. You’ll also love the "Cold Water Quest" area, which features adorable African penguins, playful sea otters, and stunning beluga whales. Every gallery is beautifully themed and meticulously maintained, making it feel like you’ve been transported to different corners of the ocean. Whether you are touching a stingray at Explorers Cove or marveling at the bioluminescent jellies, the entire visit is educational, immersive, and deeply moving.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
A destination visit for families with children of any age who have an interest in marine life. The whale shark tunnel alone justifies the trip. Early weekday visits deliver a noticeably more relaxed pace — the aquarium manages crowds well at any time, and morning arrivals spend more time watching and less time waiting.

“The Georgia Aquarium is an exceptional experience that is dear to my heart. The dedication that goes into caring for their animals is truly amazing, and their contribution to sea life conservation is unmatched. The research that they have been able to provide on whale sharks since their opening is irreplaceable, the zebra shark breeding program and the coral program are outstanding, and their commitment to public education is top notch. The biodiversity housed here is extraordinary, and their diligence in expanding their impact is impressive. I also want to personally thank Frank, James, and the dive team for all making positive impacts on my fiance and I's special day. You all truly added to an unforgettable day, and I could not thank you enough.”

“Such a great aquarium! Had not been here in forever and forgot just how mesmerizing this place is. We spent a couple of hours in here, but you could definitely spend all day. The whale shark and manta rays were awesome. It was quite crowded but they seemed to manage the crowds well. Highly recommend coming here. Great for all ages and definitely worth traveling to see.”

“Everything is top notch! Clean, functional, smartly organized, and accessible. The dolphin show was spectacular! The tanks were pristine! We spent six hours exploring as a family and there was something for everyone. We purchased $20 tickets! We got four tickets for just under $100! I highly recommend this experience!”
