1 / 2Greater Whittier Regional Aquatic Center
đ Whittier, CA
Well-maintained outdoor aquatic center offering free recreational swimming, lap swimming, and water exercise classes. Popular with families for clean facilities and outdoor setting.
Water aquatics the best thing I've ever done to help better my health
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families seeking a clean outdoor swimming experience who can work within very restricted public hours. The facility itself is well-maintained with good amenities, but expect variable staff experiences and competition with swim teams for pool time.

âI love this place! It's outdoors; it has generous hours; the locker room has user-coded lockers; it's always clean; the staff is friendly; the price for evening swims is very reasonable; morning swims are free for seniors; and there are always enough lanes for everyone. (I do wish it were a little farther from all that exhaust from the 605; and I do wish the concrete walking surfaces were less slippery. And I wish they wouldn't rush me out of the locker room after a swim session ends.)â

âVery clean pool & locker rooms. We enjoyed and appreciated the amenities in the locker room. The staff was friendly. I hope it stays free next summer.â

âThe environment and energy you receive from this pool is far from relaxing. You are CONSTANTLY hearing yells of rules by the lifeguards. Every single time you go there will be an inconsistent understanding of what is acceptable and what is not. One day you might get nice staff and the next you will get rude staff! "Supervisor" who wanted to make it a point to make sure we knew you were a supervisor; you need some people skills. This applies to the female "supervisor" on July 15th at 3pm. Mind you, I know some lifeguards there are very kind and only doing what their supervisors are telling them to do. I understand being in that situation. You can find other pools to go to where it's more peaceful and you are actually allowed to swim.â
