1 / 3Holmdel Park
π Holmdel, NY
Large free county park with well-maintained playgrounds, pram-friendly paths, designated barbecue areas, open sports fields, a tree arboretum, and wooded trails. Free parking and free entry for all ages.
Such a beautiful place β simply wonderful! We went on Sunday afternoon with family and friends for a picnic. We grilled (the park has barbecue areas, but we used our own). The surroundings were clean and well maintained. There were open areas for playing ball, a playground, tennis courts, walking paths, and even a lake. There was also a small animal farm with sheep and cows. The lower section had regular restrooms that were clean, while the upper section only had portable toilets, which were dirty and smelled bad. From kids to adults, we all had a great time. We couldnβt explore the whole park, so next time weβll discover the other parts. Thank you π
π Family Action Verdict
An excellent free outdoor day for families with children of any age. Multiple playgrounds spread across the grounds mean younger kids and older kids can each find their level. Bring sports equipment for the open fields, pack a picnic for the barbecue areas, and allow at least two hours to cover the main sections.

βI have been going to this park for over 35 years. It is a wonderful sanctuary for nature that is never too crowded. I bring my family regularly now. The Tree Arboretum is especially beautiful as a special feature. There is plenty of parking, trails, and places to sit and picnic, and there is a main small building with indoor picnic tables and well-serviced bathrooms. Two great playgrounds, one in each part. In the top area, there are also tennis courts and some other features. We love the pond area with sprawling fields of green grass and trees. Bring sports balls, kites, and frisbees.β

βWe visited the full harvest festival at Long Street farms. There was plenty of old fashioned music, making you feel like you were back in time. Each of the farm structures had individuals working within on various types of activities, such as carpentry, cooking, etc. Individuals would explain about their activities and what happened back in time. There was a wagon ride as well as other activities to engage in. There were plenty of families with young children who were obviously enjoying themselves. Additionally, we took a walk through the trails of the park.β

βFirst visit and wonβt be the last. Super clean grounds and nice folks on the trails. Bigger than I thought and nice mix of woods and fields. Lots of ground for gatherings and many were happening as we hiked around. Felt safe the whole time and enough rest faculties around for people.β
