1 / 3Kissena Park Playground
π Queens, NY
Kissena Park spans a scenic lake with walking and bike trails, multiple playgrounds for different ages, basketball, handball, bocce, and catch-and-release fishing. Well-maintained grounds with public restrooms at 160-02 Oak Avenue.
I've been going to this park for a few years now. It's really a very nice park well manicured grass and clean. They have a bike trail, basketball courts, bocce ball , handball, and much more. Also, there are swans and cute little turtles and fish. Now they allow you to fish, but you must throw the fish back in the water. Also. There are signs that say, "DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS ." People don't listen. They also allow dogs. However, people must learn to PICK UP AFTER THEIR DOG POOP. People walk and run around the lake for exercise, and they don't want to step in poop. Parking is not bad in the area. The park is open from 9am to 10pm. But google the hours.
π Family Action Verdict
Excellent for families who want a full half-day outing with varied terrainβtrails, lake views, wildlife, and age-split playgrounds in one park. Works across a wide age range. Dog walkers frequent the paths, so watch footing on the trails and remind kids not to feed the swans or turtles.

βVery nice park for kids, families, and everyone! Jungle gym for little ones and bigger kids too. Lots of open space and grassy lawns for relaxing or playing. Beautiful scenery throughout including a nice lake. The facilities here are fine for a public park. And weβve always felt safe here.β

βKissena Park feels no worse than Central Park, mainly because there are many animals to play with. Feel the beauty of nature!β

Overview
Multiple playground zones serve younger and older kids, as walking trails circle a lake where swans, turtles, and fish are visible year-round. Basketball, handball, and bocce courts add variety for older kids and adults. Catch-and-release fishing is permitted. Open grassy areas give room to run. Parking is generally available and foot traffic stays manageable compared to Central Park.
