1 / 2LA Kings Iceland in Paramount
📍 Paramount, CA
Ice rink open since 1940 where Frank Zamboni invented the ice resurfacer. Public skating, learn-to-skate classes, hockey programs, and Camp Chillin' day camps for ages 5–13.
This place is 100% The Original!!! You want to visit this wonderful ice rink! It is the birthplace of the ZAMBONI!!! This place set the standard and it’s beautifully well maintained! The staff are friendly and professional! They are very helpful which is great especially for first time skaters. We had a family birthday party and it was a perfect location! The room was clean and ready for use as soon as it was time for our party. We had people in our group that had some experience and others that had never set foot in a skate. We opted to have a basic lesson at the start of our session and it was well worth it! Aveneth was our instructor and she was fabulous with a large group! She was attentive to different levels and was able to assist everyone who needed the help. Her support and encouragement went a long way! The majority of our group can’t wait to skate again and already are thinking about our next outing! Thank you so much for hosting us, Iceland! Pro Tip: If you are going skating or having an event… it’s cold. Brink a hat and gloves if cold weather affects you. Yup, it’s an ice rink! But dress warm and in layers! If you skate, you might warm up so just be prepared.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with first-time skaters and hockey-interested kids aged 5 and up. The historic setting adds a genuine talking point, and the staff's patience with beginners is well-documented in reviews.

“Iceland in Paramount is an exceptional facility for hockey enthusiasts! My son has been playing hockey there for quite some time, and I couldn't be more impressed with the quality of the rink and the professionalism of the staff. The ice is always well-maintained, creating the perfect surface for skating and playing. The coaches are knowledgeable and dedicated, providing top-notch training for players of all levels. The facility itself is clean, spacious, and well-equipped with everything a hockey player could need. From the welcoming atmosphere to the excellent amenities, Iceland in Paramount truly stands out as a premier destination for hockey. Highly recommended!”

“Very interesting vintage and important to skating history rink. Home of the zamboni yes that zamboni the one that scrapes the ice. Frank Zamboni invented it there. It's a old rink and parking is limited . We drew a early competition slot so for us it was easy however I would think it would be a challenge later in day. Due to being a old rink little hard to see for figure skating due to the glass being worn but neat historic trip and what seems to be a pilgrimage for skaters at the historically significant rink. Also rink was home to Peggy Flemming.”

Overview
LA Kings Iceland opened in 1940 as one of the country's largest rinks and is the birthplace of the Zamboni ice resurfacer, invented by Frank Zamboni on-site. The facility runs public skating sessions, beginner learn-to-skate classes, competitive hockey leagues, and Camp Chillin' summer day camps combining ice skating with arts, crafts, and off-ice activities for children aged 5 to 13. Staff are hands-on with first-timers, including helping beginners lace and tie skates properly.
