1 / 2Landmark's Century Centre Cinema
📍 Lake View East, IL
Compact Lakeview cinema with push-button reclining seats, a full bar and dining area, attached parking structure, and a reputation for showing independent and art-house releases alongside mainstream titles.
I finally gave in and went to Landmark’s Century Centre Cinema, and yeah… it kinda ate. Everybody talks about it like it’s just a movie theater, but it’s lowkey more than that. It’s right in the city, easy to miss if you’re not paying attention, but once you’re inside it feels like one of those “oh okay, this is actually nice” moments. Me and my friends pulled up on a classic gloomy, windy Chicago day to watch The Sandlot, and honestly the weather could’ve been doing the most outside. We were locked in. The theaters are mad comfy, the sound is clean, and it actually feels like you’re supposed to be there, not just killing time. No chaos, no random noise, just vibes and the movie. The snacks were straight movie theater energy. Nothing wild, nothing gourmet, just popcorn, drinks, candy, the stuff you actually want. Sometimes simple really does win. Overall, it was one of those chill but fun experiences that feels very “Chicago but make it cozy.” I’d definitely go back, whether it’s for a random movie, a little date moment, or just something to do with the homies when it’s cold and we don’t feel like being outside. Century Centre Cinema is doing its thing, for real.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with older children or teens who appreciate an intimate, neighborhood feel over the scale of a big multiplex. The full bar and dining area suit parents who want a genuine pre-movie meal. Young children may be bothered by the occasional sound bleed between screens.

“Great theater located in the Century mall in the Lakeview neighborhood. The theater has a nice dinning area where you can enjoy your concessions or a drink from their full bar. The parking lot is directly attached to the building so it’s easily accessible for everyone ,Handicap accessibility throughout the building with ramps on every level. Theater sizes are medium compared to larger chains. Every time I’ve been there it’s not packed either which keeps me coming back. This theater is somewhat of a hidden gem in the sense that it’s not as busy as the bigger chain theaters. I’ve been there several times and it’s never been overcrowded, a bonus in my opinion. Prices are as to be expected in any theater. I haven’t been to the lower levels of the mall but I do see people walking around so maybe wander around the mall after a movie. Enjoy!”

“Went out on a date and had a great time! They had a lot of great movie times for the new Fantastic 4 especially when it’s recently released. I saw reclining chairs as an option and had to check it out - it was great! It’s the push button recline and it doesn’t go all the way back obviously but it’s so comfy and spacious. The movie itself was great sound and picture quality were good. They have a bar area too and plenty for food offering. The elevator is a tiny bit sketchy but it fits the building theme. Great time!”

“Great cinema spot! Brad, especially, was very accommodating when I explained I stupidly got my dates mixed up and ended up missing my screening of Wake Up Dead Man. I was able to use the tickets the next day without issue and thoroughly enjoyed it! The seats are very comfortable, I especially like the reclining feature that lets you rock back and forth. Will definitely visit again!”
