Olympic-quality aquatic facility with diving boards and multiple pools, but recent reviews highlight significant safety issues with children's swim instruction supervision.

Nicest facility in the area, by far. Just wish they had longer operating hours. Adult lap is currently only available M-TH 6-8pm and Fridays 5-8pm. However, classes are offered throughout the day and the staff is excellent.

🏆 Family Action Verdict

While the facility itself is excellent with great amenities like Olympic diving boards, multiple recent reviews raise serious safety concerns about children's swim instruction. Parents report instructors not supervising kids properly, leading to dangerous situations. Best avoided for children's lessons until supervision improves.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Adult lap swimming only available M-TH 6-8pm and Friday 5-8pm - very limited hours
If enrolling children, specifically request instructors Daniel, Yahwoda, Ashly, Carmela, Melina, or Max who receive positive mentions
🎟️Expect frequent staff turnover at front desk - may get inconsistent information
🚗Consider observing a class before enrolling to assess current supervision quality

I have never been more disappointed in a swim program. The quality has completely gone downhill since last year. Back in 2024, my son’s experience was amazing his instructor was hands on, patient, and actually in the water teaching. We even booked private lessons with her on Fridays because she was that good. Now that my son is in a higher level, it’s like night and day. The instructors barely pay attention most of them just stand around or chat with each other. When I came to watch recently, my son was struggling in the water, and it looked like the lifeguard (his old instructor) was about to jump in to rescue him. He managed to grab the wall, but his current instructor didn’t even notice what was happening. How is that okay? To make it worse, I’ve seen instructors sitting on chairs scrolling on their phones while kids are swimming. Some of them are supposed to be guarding the pool, yet they’re talking, eating, or just completely distracted. That’s not only unprofessional it’s UNSAFE. If you do decide to enroll your child, please request Daniel, Yahwoda, Ashly, Carmela, Melina, or Max. They’re the only ones who seem to genuinely care and actually teach the kids. Everyone else looks like they’re just there to clock in and out. What’s even more frustrating is how disorganized everything has become. During the summer, Ashly kept things running smoothly. she was professional, helpful, and on top of everything. Now it feels like no one is in charge. There’s a new person at the front desk every time I come in, and half the time they can’t answer basic questions. When I asked about the class size for Level 1 going back down to four kids, I was told to “ask the office.” But when I asked Ashly or Melina ,who were actually in the water teaching, they gave me a clear answer right away. This program used to be something special, and it’s honestly heartbreaking to see how far it’s fallen. I don’t know what changed management, staff, or training, but something needs to be done. Parents shouldn’t have to worry about whether their kids are even being watched properly. It’s gone from a place I loved recommending to one I’d think twice about ever signing up for again. My ex-wife and I have decided that October will be our last month coming back to this program. It’s really disappointing to say that, because we used to love it here. But at this point, it just doesn’t feel like the program is helping my son progress anymore. There’s a big difference between coaching and teaching, and lately it feels like the focus is more on coaching from the top rather than actually teaching the kids how to swim in the water. We just don’t feel comfortable with the direction this program is going. My daughter is still enrolled in a lower level class, and the only reason we might consider coming back is because of her favorite instructors Selest and Ashly who are still in the water and genuinely teaching. They actually engage with the kids and make a difference. We’ll see how things look in January or February, but as of now, we’re stepping away. It’s really unfortunate to watch something that was once great turn into such a disappointment.

Never had a WORSE swimming experience for my kid than the one we had at the LAVC swimming pool. What they offer is NOT a swimming class and it’s actually very dangerous for children. The kids are asked to swim laps with NO SUPERVISION by their instructor who has happily chatting with a colleague and not even looking at them. My 7-year-old daughter reported that the instructor wasn’t even interested in talking to them. Stay away if you care about your little one’s swimming skills and water safety!!
