Main Barn
đ Lincoln Park, IL
Hands-on farm exhibit at Lincoln Park Zoo's Farm-in-the-Zoo featuring live farm animals, educational displays, and a large tractor kids can explore. Free entry, sheltered, and toddler-friendly.
When the main barn at the Farm in the Zoo is open, it's a fun, interactive place to see farm animals and learn about caring for them with the various exhibits. It's also a place for a bit of reprieve from the sun or rain on less-than-perfect weather days. There are often zoo volunteers and workers there to answer questions, of which my kids have plenty.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for curious kids aged 2â8 who respond to animals and hands-on learning. The tractor is a reliable hit with young children, and staff presence makes the exhibits genuinely interactive rather than passive. A strong wet-weather backup within the zoo â the shelter alone justifies swinging through when the barn visit is brief.
