๐ Everett, MA
MetroRock Everett spans 30,000 sq ft with bouldering and roped climbing for all levels. Kids programs include after-school classes, recreational and competitive youth teams, birthday parties, and gym sleepovers.
Our son is on one of the climbing teams here and loves it. The center is everything you would want from a climbing gym with super friendly and helpful staff.
๐ Family Action Verdict
Best for families with kids of any age โ very young children have climbed here successfully per reviews, and older kids can join competitive youth teams. The breadth of programming means a single drop-in visit can lead to ongoing enrollment. Parents who climb will find the route quality and setting rotation keeps the gym interesting for them too.

โI fell in love with climbing in early 2024, and after being a member at MetroRock Everett for a little over three months, I can confidently say itโs been an awesome experience. The staff are always friendly and approachable, which makes the gym feel welcoming whether youโre brand new to climbing or more experienced. Thereโs also a really inviting community hereโpeople are supportive, encouraging, and happy to share advice. One thing that really stands out is how clean the gym is. For a climbing gym that sees a lot of traffic, itโs consistently well maintained. Another huge plus is the kids program. The classes are well taught, engaging, and genuinely fun. My two boys enjoy it so much that they ask me to bring them 2โ3 times a week, which says a lot. Overall, MetroRock Everett has become one of our familyโs favorite places to spend time. Highly recommend it for anyone interested in getting into climbing or looking for a great gym for both adults and kids.โ

โClimber here whoโs been over half the gyms in the US and many all over the world. This is a terrific gym for both experienced and amateur climbers. What makes a great gym for experienced climbers is usually the quality of routes. The setting rotation is frequent, with interesting and technical challenges for up to double digits boulder and rope routes. Comp climbers would love the space in the back where you see incredible compy problems on their TC walls. They have a supportive management who allows plenty of autonomy for their setters to explore creativity and staying current against competition standards. Newer climbers or those looking to try the sport would find a variety of beginner to intermediate grades. They are constantly upgrading the experience for everyone. Recently, they added a new board upstairs and revamp the whole area for a more inviting climbing space. For an older gym, it is very encouraging to see them pumping investment into existing facilities so if you are a member you wonโt feel this gym is far behind other โnewโ gyms in town. When climbers complain they donโt like the climbs the problem is sometimes the need to improve on understanding of movement and techniques. So, read with a pinch of salt when climbers complain about routes setting and stylesโฆ There are several auto belays although I would love to see a better mix of different grades โcurrently more than 70% are โ5-introโ which are gearing towards mostly first timers or little kids. They have a great youth and kids team program ran by some of the most knowledgeable and passionate coaches Iโve come across. Fitness room features everything you need, newer yoga room/ party room for kids birthday celebrations. Locker rooms are older and can use some upgrades but showers are hot and restrooms always clean. Parking is free and plentiful. The staff is the gem of this gym. You will always feel welcomed, and where safety is priority. When they host climbing events, these dudes work their backs off to put up some of the most awesome competitions in the Northeast. Props to the amazing team: Billy, Marco, โฆ and ofc the rad female manager, Karen! If you are considering visiting, the climbing community is generally friendly. I am from out of town. 3 out of 5 times I show up alone and would be able to hook up with someone local to climb together.โ
