1 / 3Momentum Indoor Climbing Sandy
π Sandy, TX
20,000 sq ft indoor climbing facility with bouldering walls to 15ft, top-rope climbing to 50ft, 180-plus routes, daily belay certification classes, yoga, and fitness equipment.
I visit SLC once or twice a year to go rock climbing or snowboarding, and I have gone to the Momentum gyms a few times. This one in Millcreek seems to be the major hub - this one in Sandy is smaller, but I would give it 5 stars just for its crack training walls alone. The good: 1. The staff seem like standard gym employees. They're friendly and got us checked in quickly. 2. This place is clean. I didn't see any chalk dust floating around either which I appreciate. 3. The gym has varied climbs at every grade for bouldering, TR, and lead - it will be fun for total beginners or seasoned climbers. There is an entire corner of the gym dedicated to crack climbing, including cracks on lead. IMHO, if you are training for the outdoors, this is probably one of the best gyms in the country. They've even painted the walls to look like the red sandstone walls in Southern UT. 4. The training area is well equipped. Kilter board, hangboards, cardio and weights, etc.
π Family Action Verdict
Families with teens trying climbing for the first time will find the staff exceptionally welcoming. The Learn to Belay class is designed for nervous first-timers and gives parents and kids the certification they need to use rope walls independently after a single session.

βI had an amazing experience at Momentum Rock Climbing thanks to Jackson! From the moment I walked in, Jackson was incredibly helpful and informative, guiding me through the equipment and safety procedures with a friendly smile. He took the time to answer all my questions and even gave me tips on improving my climbing technique. Jacksonβs enthusiasm and patience made me feel completely at ease, and he went above and beyond to ensure I had a great experience. By the end of my session, I felt more confident and excited about climbing than ever. If youβre heading to Momentum Rock Climbing, I highly recommend asking for Jackson. His knowledge, encouragement, and genuine passion for climbing truly made my visit memorable. I canβt wait to come back for another climb β thanks to Jackson for making it such a fantastic time!β

βMy daughter wanted to try climbing for her 16th birthday. Neither of us had any experience at all. I was so nervous going in, but the Learn to Belay class was fantastic and thorough and by the time it was done we both felt confident and spent another couple of hours climbing the top rope routes. We can't wait to go back. Everybody was so friendly.β

βIβm not thrilled with Momentumβs recent decision to limit memberships to a single location. I enrolled with the clear understanding that my membership provided access to all of your gyms. If you want to align pricing with usage, offering a discounted option for members who choose to use only one location makes sense. Increasing the cost for those of us who signed up expecting multi-location access, however, feels like a money grab and undermines the value we agreed to when enrolling.β

Overview
Momentum Sandy is the smaller sibling in the Momentum network and earns particular praise for its crack climbing training walls β a rarity in Utah gyms. The route count stays above 180 across bouldering and rope walls. Daily Learn to Belay classes run for complete beginners, covering equipment, safety procedures, and technique in a session that reviewers say builds genuine confidence. Bouldering requires no partner; rope climbing requires belay certification obtained on-site.
