Montebello Barnyard Zoo
π South Montebello, CA
A hands-on farm experience where young children can feed and pet goats, sheep, pigs, rabbits, and other barnyard animals. Features pony rides, playground areas, and birthday party facilities.
Super fun. Park small but detailed. We did the pony rides and we fed all the goals and the burrow and the cow. There was a turkey there there was bunnies. There were pigs ostriches donkeys. But you can only pet, the goats and the cows. Oh and the horses. Really fun
π Family Action Verdict
Best suited for families with young children (toddlers to early elementary) who want a brief, hands-on animal experience. The small scale makes it perfect for short attention spans, but the barnyard smell may bother sensitive kids. Plan for 30-45 minutes and definitely use Groupon for better value.

βNoticed that baby seemed to like looking at animals, so we decided to take her to the petting zoo. I went to google and found the Montebello Barnyard Zoo. It was located near a park, so I figure it would be pretty small, but we went anyways. The park was buzzing with energy! Children running around, birthday parties everywhere you turn and lots of horses. We walked up to the big barn, paid for our admission (cheaper on Groupon), grabbed a bag of feed and took a look at all the animals. This petting zoo isnβt as immersive as I thought, you can only feed and pet them through a fence. Which actually is good for children cause baby was actually quite scared of the animals. They have tortoises, chickens, a turkey, miniature horses, emus, alpacas, geese and ducks on display. The goats, sheep a cow and donkeys were available for feeding. Small little local petting zoo. Likely to spend about 30-45 minutes comfortably looking at animalsβ

βThe name of this establishment can be somewhat misleading, as it is more of a small farm than a traditional zoo. The animals on-site include rabbits, pigs, roosters, chickens, goats, sheep, ducks, a couple of cows, tortoises, and donkeys. It offers a pleasant and educational experience for young children, particularly since visitors are provided with feed pellets to hand-feed some of the animals. The entire barn area can be toured in approximately five minutes. I recommend purchasing tickets through Groupon, as it offers great savings I paid $8 for two tickets and found the experience worthwhile.β
