I really like this gym. Even though it’s smaller than other climbing gyms, their grades are a bit harder, which is nice. The staff is mostly young and friendly. It gets packed after 3pm on week days when the kids get out of school. The auto-belays are limited. Not much there in case you don’t have a belay partner. They have a board on which you can find a belay partner. Overall, great vibes and grateful to not be driving into the city for climbing. ❀️

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children aged 9 and up who are new to climbing β€” intro classes are the standout feature and a strong entry point. Mixed-ability families can find suitable walls at every level. Arrive before school lets out on weekdays to avoid peak crowds. Members from the previous ownership era should expect updated membership rates.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Book intro classes in advance β€” spots fill quickly and classes have been offered free
⏰Arrive before school dismissal on weekdays to avoid crowding
🎟️Bring a climbing partner β€” auto-belay stations are sparse
πŸš—Smaller footprint than city gyms and routes are graded harder

β€œI went here years ago as a guest for an event. This is well-equipped, safety-conscious, accommodating-to-all rock climbing gym. There are cliff faces for people of all experience levels. I have a contorted foot and generally not the best athletic ability, and I still found a suitable wall to scale.”

β€œExcellent place with tons of walls for bouldering and rope climbing. I had a party of five going there for the first time on an intro class and it was free! And are instructor Brandon was amazing. Highly recommend this place as they have a repeat customer for sure.”

Overview

Movement Valhalla offers bouldering walls and rope climbing routes calibrated slightly harder than comparable city gyms, plus intro classes that have been offered free of charge. The space is clean and welcoming. Staff are consistently praised for friendliness and instructional quality. Auto-belays are sparse, so climbing with a partner is recommended.
