1 / 3Muscoot Farm
📍 Katonah, NY
A free educational working farm across 700 acres featuring goats, sheep, cattle, horses, donkeys, pigs, and poultry in historic buildings. Sunday farmers market, weekend cafe, hayrides, and Tuesday morning Little Explorers program for young children.
Such an amazing experience, watching children play and enjoy the animals. Just watching how well taken care of the animals are, seeing them happy and at peace is such a beautiful feeling. As a chef, I love seeing animals well taken care of, this is how all animals should be treated. This place is a beautiful farm, you are able to go into the stables, have interaction with the pigs, cows and other beautiful animals they offer. Take your children here, watch them be amazed. I really miss my daughter being an age where she could truly enjoy the beauty of this farm. This was my first time here and I will come back for sure. Just beautiful ❤️
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with children of any age who want genuine farm contact rather than a zoo-style exhibit. Animals are healthy and accessible — highland cattle are a consistent favourite. The Sunday farmers market adds adult interest alongside kids' animal time.

“Fantastic working educational farm ! The parking is free as is the entry. They have a fantastic farmers market with everything under the sun, I recommend the stand selling the different varieties of pickles. There are historic buildings to tour as well as a bunch of animals to see on the 700 plus acres. You can hike or take a leisurely stroll on the trails that run up into the rest of the park. They have an education building and a cafe that is open in the warmer months. They also run a Christmas light event that runs through the holidays. If you have never been, I highly recommend a day at the farm.”

“Just excellent for adults to kids. Hiking trails. Bee farm. Animals to experience at your leisure. All of them are obviously well cared for and look healthy and happy. We just missed the little explorers from 9:30-10:30 on Tuesday! And the cafe concessions is only open on weekends. But no bad marks. It’s an amazing place and if you need a quick family friendly bite, Charchaels hot dog stand 5 minutes down the road is perfect (cash only)”

“Great local free farm. Enjoyed my time with the family here. Our favorite were the highland cattle. They are absolutely beautiful. They have concession style food and area for picnics. Definitely a great time for the family.”

Muscoot Farm operates as a working educational farm across 700 acres of Westchester County. Animals — highland cattle, goats, sheep, horses, donkeys, pigs, and a full poultry yard — are visibly well-cared for and accessible throughout the historic building complex.
