1 / 3Queens Zoo
π Queens, NY
20-acre zoo in Flushing Meadows Corona Park with Andean bears, sea lions, bald eagles, pumas, a petting zoo, aviary dome, and daily sea lion feeding shows. Walkable in under two hours.
I recently took my daughter 2.5 yrs old daughter to the Queens Zoo, and we had such a great time! She especially loved the childrenβs farm areaβshe was so excited to see the animals up close. This zoo is perfect for kids and toddlers; itβs not too big, which makes it easy to walk around, and there are plenty of fun things for little ones to enjoy. The whole place is very clean and well-organized, which I really appreciated as a parent. It felt safe, calm, and family-friendly the entire time we were there. The staff were also super friendly and helpful, and you can tell they care about both the animals and the guests. One thing to keep in mind is that the food options inside are limited and a bit pricey, so it might be a good idea to eat before you go or bring snacks for the kids. Overall, the Queens Zoo is such a wonderful place for a family outing. Itβs small enough not to feel overwhelming but still has plenty to see and do. We had a memorable day, and Iβd definitely recommend it to other families, especially those with young kids!
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with toddlers and children under eight who want a manageable outing without committing to a full day. The compact layout means no navigation stress and under two hours covers everything comfortably. The children's farm and sea lion feeding are the two must-visit anchors.

βFor $12 this place is an absolute steal. The animal assortment is kind of random but good enough for a toddler! Love that kids under three are free too (I took a pic of my kid's passport just in case because she's pretty tall for 2.5 but no one even questioned it). The walk from the 111th st stop is a bit lengthy but nice if it's not too hot. Zoo is also fine with a stroller, though you will have some dirt paths to deal with when turning into some of the animal nooks. I was surprised how un-familu friendly the rest room was. There was only one large stall and someone was camped out..luckily the bathroom door gaps are so wide you can still keep an eye on your child lol The gift shop is pretty much what you'd expect, lots of animal stuffed toys, some cars, some snacks. Maybe pack some sweet treats for the kids in case they see the foot long rainbow lollipop at the register, save yourself $14 π«£β

βWorth every penny and every second! Despite growing up in Flushing, I donβt remember if I visited this location as a kid. So I decided to change that with my family. I homeschool my children so I was able to take advantage of the fact that very few people were present. As a result, we had a blast, one only capable when you reserve a park to yourself. We took our time and savored every moment and Iβm glad we did. Despite the relatively small size of this zoo, I strongly recommend you and your family/friends go and have a relaxed time.β

βThis zoo is a small zoo byt perfect for an afternoon with kids. The animals are beautiful and well cared for. We always enjoy the sea lion feeding time. The actual zoo can be seen in under 2 hours but we always enjoy visiting and feeding the farm animals on our way out. This is always a highlight for the little ones. My favorites are the alpacas.β
