1 / 3Sender One Climbing & Sender City - Santa Ana
📍 Santa Ana, CA
Expansive Santa Ana climbing gym with rope and bouldering walls up to 50 feet, plus Sender City — a colorful dedicated climbing area for children ages 3 and up. Youth camps, yoga, and birthday parties available.
This is maybe the best climbing gym I have been to, and I have been to a bunch of climbing gyms across the country. Pros: Clean - one of the cleanest gyms I have been to. Super friendly and accommodating staff (we were visiting from out of town and able to schedule a lead check during our only visit - granted, we were there first thing in the morning and it was not crowded). Decent size gym with plenty of boulder problems as well as top rope and lead routes. The ice cream cone feature is what drew us in, and it did not disappoint. The nearby arch is also a cool feature. The kids area (Sender City) is amazing, and not just for kids. I imagine this space really helps kids gain climbing skills and confidence that translate to the regular climbing area. Kudos to Sender One for finding a way to have a kids area that helps prevent kids from running around the climbing gym, undoubtedly keeping everyone a little safer. Our adult group enjoyed the space as well - everyone should try it once, regardless of age. I can't comment on the training gym across the parking lot - we just visited once to do some climbing. Also, we went early in the morning, and the place was not crowded at all. I cannot comment on what the place is like in the afternoon. If it is like most climbing gyms, it probably gets crowded.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
A top pick for families with children ages 3 and up who want an active, skill-building outing. Sender City keeps young children appropriately challenged and safely contained. The main walls scale up for adults and teens seeking serious routes.

“I had a great first experience at Sender One Climbing. It's a large variety of climbing practices that anyone can do, and their kids section stands out. Staff was super friendly touring the place around and helping with waivers. I highly suggest all families, friends, and children visit here if you are interested in rock climbing. Thank you, and God bless Sender One Climbing & Sender City!”

“This place is pretty clean, very spacious, and offers variety of routes suitable for both beginners and seasoned climbers. I went with a couple friends and we have three kids under 10 yo with almost zero experience. Staff Lainy was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, guiding the kids through the basics and ensuring safety at every step. Definitely a place we would go back to!”

“I brought my two daughters to one of their 1 day winter camps. It was a fun 4 hours for them and they each had a great time. It was a great variety with Sender City, Top Ropes, and Bouldering. Most of all, the camps staff was very positive.”
