Wonderful experience! We had 2 toddlers who had an incredible time. The Playscape was fantastic and the employees did an excellent job putting on a music program that kept the youngest kids engaged. The entire museum is a delight and incredibly interactive for kids of all ages. Even with several school groups present, there was plenty of room and activities for all to explore without running over one another.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

One of the strongest children's museum experiences in the country for ages 0–14. Toddlers have dedicated Playscape space with live staff programming. School-age kids are absorbed by Dinosphere and the sports complex. Teens engage with the National Art Museum of Sport and more complex interactive galleries.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Start with Dinosphere early in the day β€” it's the most popular exhibit and draws the largest crowds.
⏰The Playscape is staffed with dedicated programming for toddlers and infants β€” check the day's music session schedule on arrival.
🎟️Plan for a full day β€” the museum's five floors reward unhurried exploration and rushing through it undersells the experience.
πŸš—Purchase tickets online in advance, especially during school holidays and spring break when demand peaks.

β€œThe Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is absolutely world-class and honestly lives up to every bit of the hype. It is massive, but the layout is so thoughtful that it never feels overwhelming. The Dinosphere is a total showstopperβ€”walking among those fossils feels like stepping back in time. I also love the Sports Legends Experience outside; it’s such a great way for kids to stay active and try different sports in one spot. Whether you’re exploring the international cultures or the massive water clock, there’s a genuine sense of wonder in every corner. It's a must-visit destination.”

β€œSimply the best Children's Museum in the country and the largest in the world. Basketball, football, hockey, soccer, pedal car racing, golf, baseball, and tennis are among the sports featured in the Riley Children's Health Sports Legends Experience. The National Art Museum of Sport, the World of Sport, and the History of Hoops are all located in the indoor sports area. The Children's Museum of Indianapolis has five floors and 500,000 square feet of engaging interactive exhibits that allow visitors to learn about the natural and physical sciences, history, international cultures, and the arts while having fun and engaging family-friendly activities. In addition to learning about what it's like to live and work in space, families will find some of the rarest dinosaur fossils in the entire globe. There is also a theater featuring live performances and kid-friendly plays.”
