1 / 2The Hollywood Museum
π Hollywood, CA
The official Hollywood museum featuring over 10,000 authentic costumes, props and memorabilia across four floors in the historic Max Factor Building. Best for families with older children who appreciate movie history.
FANTASTIC TREASURE TROVE OF HOLLYWOOD MEMORABILIA! Classic Hollywood costumes and props galore! More historic stuff than I saw at the official Academy museum. Four floors of costumes, props, set pieces, autographed headshots, jewelry, cars and more. The basement is for horror fans, but isn't too scary. The first floor features Factor's beautiful building, makeup, costumes and headshots of the most famous movie stars or yesteryear. There are superheroes, singers, and other famous folk on the second and third floors. Well displayed and maintained, it's a joy for movie lovers. All housed in the classic art Deco Max Factor building. He was one of Hollywood's most famous makeup artists, and of course started his line of makeup. It's clear this collection was made and is maintained with a love of old Hollywood. Admission is only $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students, and a mere $5 for kids! If you love classic Hollywood, you'll love the Hollywood museum!
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with older children who appreciate movie history and classic Hollywood glamour. The horror basement section adds excitement but may not suit very young kids. Perfect for a quick 1-2 hour cultural stop with reasonable admission prices, though those expecting modern blockbuster focus may be disappointed by the vintage emphasis.

βA hidden gem in the heart of Hollywood! I really enjoyed my visit to the Hollywood Museum. Itβs packed with original costumes, props, and memorabilia from classic films to modern blockbusters. The basement dungeon (where they showcase horror and sci-fi) was spooky and fun, and the Marilyn Monroe exhibit was a highlight! The museum is located inside the historic Max Factor building, so the setting itself feels like part of Hollywood history. Itβs not very big, but thereβs a ton to see. If youβre a movie or TV fan, youβll definitely appreciate all the detail. It can get a bit crowded, and the lighting in some areas could be improved, but overall it was a fun and nostalgic experience. Definitely worth a stop if youβre near Hollywood Blvd.β

βGreat price for so much to see. 4 floors of Hollywood! Iβm a huge Wizard Of Oz fan and seeing one of the original pairs alone made it worth the cost of the ticket! I do feel like 1 visit isnβt enough to see all that they offer, as I said itβs huge with 4 floors! Iβm also a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe so I spent quite a bit of time in there. The main levels was a lot of old Hollywood which was fascinating. Overall there was something for everyone to enjoy.β

βWow such a great experience, I've lived in LA all my life and never went in the Max Factor building but luckily my mom was invited here and I was floored so much memorabilia from the 1920's till now just so cool. We went to a Black History Month Event and I was so pleased at all the work that went into making it so special. Everyone should go something for everyone to love so relatable.β
