1 / 2Universal Studios Hollywood
π Universal City, CA
Movie-themed mega-park with Super Nintendo World, Harry Potter area, thrilling rides, and a legendary studio backlot tour. Early access passes unlock the park before general crowds arrive.
If youβre looking for a truly unforgettable theme park experience, Universal Studios Hollywood absolutely delivers. Iβm not usually a huge theme park person, but I would go back here in a heartbeat β and Iβm already looking forward to checking out the Universal Orlando location! One major tip: pay for the early access pass to Super Nintendo World. It allowed us to enter the park an hour early (8am instead of 9am), and nothing else in the park is open yet besides this area. We were able to ride Mario Kart Challenge twice and explore the world and gift shop before the main crowds arrived. Once the park officially opens, people swarm the Super Nintendo World area, so this early access is a game-changer. The level of detail and immersive design in Super Nintendo World was absolutely breathtaking β every little element was thoughtfully executed. The park overall was incredibly clean, and the staff were outstanding. I even needed to visit the medical center due to an injury the day prior, and they took amazing care of me, allowing me to enjoy the park despite my situation. I seriously cannot thank them enough. Without them, my experience wouldn't have been the same. The rides were so much fun! My personal favorite was Harry Potter & the Forbidden Journey, which combined visual effects with practical animatronics for an immersive experience. The Mummy ride was way faster than we expected, and the Jurassic World water ride had a drop so steep that my husband got completely soaked β I was grateful for my poncho and had to brace myself for the drop. The Secret Life of Pets ride was fun, though the experience in the line area could have been executed better. Meet-and-greet experiences are short (about 15 minutes), so be sure to get in line early if thatβs a priority. Food highlights included the Lard Lad Donuts β the pink donut was sweet, fresh, and delicious. My husband loved the Jurrasic Water drink. It came in a souvenir cup and the drinks was strong. Well worth the price. The studio tour was enjoyable, though I wouldnβt recommend it on a holiday; it was very quiet, and we would have loved to see more activity and action in the studios. Overall, Universal Studios Hollywood was an incredible experience from start to finish. From immersive worlds and thrilling rides to excellent staff and attention to detail, this park is worth every bit of planning and early-morning effort!
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with kids aged 6+ who are fans of Nintendo or Harry Potter. Visit Ollivanders wand ceremony first thing for smaller groups. Early access is the highest-leverage upgrade for any visit β it puts you inside Super Nintendo World a full hour before the crowds. Toddlers can ride some attractions and will miss the majority of headliners.

βWe visited Universal Studios during Thanksgiving 2024 with my husband, our baby, and myself, and overall it was a very magical experience. The park was beautifully decorated for Christmas, which made everything feel extra special for the holidays. Grinch story time was very enjoyable, especially for families, and the studio tour of the movie sets was super entertaining and a must-do. This was our second time visitingβour first was back in 2018βand this time they had Super Nintendo World, which was hands down the best thing the park offers. Mario World was incredible and definitely the highlight of our trip. One downside for us was the food. During our first visit, we tried the Simpsons burgers and they had no flavor at all. This time we tried the Mexican bowl and unfortunately had the same experience. We also got hot chocolate, which wasnβt good either. The food is definitely not the parkβs strong point. Other than that, everything else was wonderful and very well done. It did get very busy in the afternoon since it was a holiday, but we still enjoyed our time and the festive atmosphere. Overall, it was a great experience and very memorable for our family. ππ¬πβ

βIt was really fun! The wait time wasn't as long as I was expecting for a Sunday. We went on whim and it was great. Definitely recommend good walking shoes, comfy clothes, light extra set of clothes just in case, wipes and a backpack. There are wait times for all the rides but they weren't ridiculous as I've experienced at other parks. The food we had was good. We had the Krusty burger in Springfield. The giant donut is a must, its fluffy, sweet, and simple. We also rented a single stroller for 25$. It didn't have a lot of room for bags or extra things but it was easy to maneuver. Everything in the shops is pricy so choose maybe small souvenirs if you're on a budget. Definitely get the refill cups if you don't take water. And I recommend getting up early eating breakfast and heading to the park early.β

βVisited Universal Studios Hollywood and had an amazing experience. We had the Skip the Line tickets, which let us ride everything for the first time without waiting. It was definitely worth the $450 for two people, as we were able to enjoy most of the rides without long lines. Our favorite rides were The Mummy, the one inside Hogwarts Castle, and Springfield. The park is well organized, immersive, and full of fun attractions for all ages. Overall, it was an incredible day, and I would come back anytime.β

Overview
Universal Studios Hollywood anchors two landmark immersive worlds: Super Nintendo World and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The studio tour rolls through active backlot sets and landmark facades. Rides range from family-friendly to high-intensity. Park entry to Super Nintendo World requires a timed reservation obtained at the gate β early access passes bypass this entirely.
