đ Westchester, CA
City-operated outdoor pool in Los Angeles offering swim lessons for all ages with small class sizes. Toddler-friendly areas available. Scholarships offered for qualifying families. Changing rooms are functional and dated.
Attended a 10-day adult swimming class that lasted around 25 mins each for $70. 3 days were cancelled (due to unsafe chlorine levels), which was disappointing, but we were warned before signing up. I personally think that $10 a day is still good value. The class was capped at 8, but only 5 (including myself) showed up. So it was *almost* like a private lesson. The class was taught by lifeguards at the pool. The teacher I got was great! I didn't catch his name, but I really wanted to emphasize that his teaching ability made me want to write a review. :) He taught us how to do freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke (also treading too)! Timing the breathing is tough, but that comes with practice. Practicing and keeping in mind the tips and mistakes he pointed out during class. After these 7 days, I'm a lot more confident in water than I ever was! 10/10. After I practice and master these three strokes, I would definitely come back for more lessons. Thank you, and keep up the good work! PS: The pool isn't heated and is seasonal. So getting in during the afternoon of late August is cold. Hardest part of the class was entering and submerging myself fully. However, did I mention that the pool itself and changing room is extremely clean?
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families seeking affordable, quality swim instruction in a no-frills setting. Small class sizes mean kids receive genuine individual attention. Scholarships make it accessible for lower-income families. Come prepared for basic changing facilities and an unheated pool â conditions that matter more for extended sessions than casual visits.

âI'm loving that this pool is fully open and functional again. My daughter is enjoying lessons, just like I used to when I was young. They are reasonably priced and even offer scholarships They could definitely do with some changing room updates though and some sort of clock in the pool area. Hopefully they can put money towards some renovations because a lack of doors in the changing rooms is kind of sillyâ

Overview
Westchester Pool is a seasonal city-operated outdoor facility running swim lessons, lap swimming, and recreational swimming from late spring through summer. Classes are capped at small group sizes for individual attention. Scholarships are available. The pool is unheated, so afternoon temperatures can drop noticeably in late summer. Changing rooms lack doors and a clock is absent from the pool deck.
