Such a great place to visit if you love animals or have small kids. The animals were all over the place and we had plenty of food to feed them all. It was a fun experience as a family. It is very well maintained as well!

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Exceptional for families with children of any age — toddlers enjoy the petting zoo and hand-feeding, as older kids engage with the full trail of native and exotic species. Mostly shaded paths make warm-weather visits manageable. Picnic lunches are welcome on site.

“Yellow River wildlife sanctuary is one of the most underrated attractions in the Atlanta area in my opinion. The selection of exhibits to look at while not overwhelming is enough to be entertaining for children especially. The staff are all very friendly and well-informed. The petting zoo and rabbits are a lot of fun, as well. Best of all, in my opinion, it rarely gets crowded, even when the parking lot is full.”

“This animal sanctuary is a wonderful place for families to visit and for school field trips. You can see many animals up close and even feed them, should you choose. It is mostly shaded, so even on a hot day, it is still doable. You can pack a picnic lunch to enjoy as well!”
