A neighborhood playground featuring a central splash pad, climbing structures, and plenty of shade. Great for families with kids 3+ looking for water play and active outdoor fun.

We passed by this active and spacious playground during Summer Street. There was a band playing, so we stopped by and enjoyed a bit of their musicals before climbing the hill to the MET Cloisters. There are definitely quite a bit of stairs directly upwards - I imagine there's a sloped path nearby, but still quite a number of steps

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best suited for families with kids 3+ who want a shaded playground with water play features. The splash pad is a highlight, but expect some older equipment and typical NYC urban park atmosphere. Consider it a solid neighborhood option rather than a destination playground.

â„šī¸ What to Know Before You Go

💡Prepare for steep stairs when approaching from certain directions
⏰Note that pets and bicycles are not allowed despite some visitors ignoring rules
đŸŽŸī¸Splash pad provides relief during hot weather
🚗Expect typical NYC park smells from open trash barrels

“Greatbspot for kids. However, pets aren't allowed (few people still get their pets). Bicycling isn't allowed either, but several kids do that.”

“"This is a pretty good playground, " said my 8 year old. It's nice and shady, with a splash pad in the center. Some of the play structures are pretty old. Trash is stored in open barrels, which gives the park a real New York City smell..”
