1 / 3Calvert Vaux Playground
đ Brooklyn, NY
Brooklyn playground with climbing structures, swings, basketball and handball courts, plus open grassy areas perfect for active play and running around.
There is a play area for children with ladders bridges and slides. There are basketball courts and handball courts for wallball, etc.. There is also a designated bocce area but few people ever utilize it. There are numerous tables and benches surrounding the park. You can walk your dog here but be sure and pick up after them please. There are garbage bins for disposing the waste. There are restrooms here, the hours vary seasonally. Typically dirty with an unpleasant odor, little can be done for this.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best suited for families with children from newborn to 8 years old who want variety in play options including climbing, swings, and sports courts. The open grassy areas make it great for active play, but come prepared with your own water and avoid relying on facilities during peak summer.

âGreat playground for children ranging from nb to ~8 years old. There are standard climbing areas, swings, basketball and handball courts. A lot of open, grassy areas are available to play/run around on. Water sprinkles available during the summer. There's a public bathroom available. There's a bridge nearby that'll take you to a different section of Calvert Vaux Playground across Belt Parkway, however it's composed of only stairs and is difficult for anybody with a stroller, bicycle, etc.â

âWater fountains inoperable all summer. Water sprinkler for children off all summer. Park is maintained and kept clean but it needs to have water for hydration and it should have had water sprinkler on all summer.â

The playground caters well to children from newborn to around 8 years old, though families should note that water features including fountains and sprinklers are often unreliable during summer months.
