1 / 3Dorothy Green Park
π Ocean Park, CA
A 4.6-acre beachfront park with age-appropriate playground equipment, 12 picnic tables, open lawn, public art sculptures, and direct beach access. Perry's Cafe sits on-site; the Santa Monica Pier is a seven-minute walk north.
This park is great for kids of all ages. There are small slides to accommodate toddlers and bigger slides for your more coordinated kids. There is one set of swings for small babies and another set of traditional swings for everyone else. A small rock climbing wall is fun to teach your kids how to climb. The center playground is covered by shade which is nice on hot days. Peak times are usually from 8am to about 12pm and then there is hardly anyone between 12-2pm after two there is an little after school rush of kids but not as bad as the morning. Another great thing about this park is that it's so close to the beach. So you can walk to it before or after going to the playground.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families wanting to combine structured playground time with a beach day in one location. Toddlers through primary-school age all have dedicated equipment, and the seven-minute walk to the pier adds a natural extension for older kids. Arrive before midday or mid-afternoon to find parking without a long hunt.

βThere was so much parking on a cloudy Sunday. Free parking for handicap but $15 for a day. Close to the pier...just a 7 minutr walk. You can rent bikes on either side of the park. There's a cute cafe with sand and beach chairs set up to enjoy your snacks. They closed up early with the rain. The bathroom werent that bad but no place to dry your hands and no soap. So pack some wipes or sanitizer. The toilet was nice and soft though. A playground for little ones is also close by. Theres a few benches for eating and watching life at the beach.β

βAmazing experience. Santa Monica has to be one of the bike-friendliest places I've visited in years. It's actually more efficient to ride around town because you can rent/park the e-bikes/e-scooters just about anywhere.β

Overview
Dorothy Green Park runs along the Santa Monica beachfront with separate play equipment for toddlers and older childrenβsmall slides and baby swings for under-fives, a rock climbing wall and larger structures for school-age kids. A palm-lined plaza with public art frames the park's inland edge. Restrooms and Perry's Cafe are on-site. Bike rentals are available directly adjacent, and the pier is walkable. Parking lot is paid; street parking exists in surrounding blocks.
