1 / 3Forest Park Carousel Amusement Village
π Queens, NY
A small amusement area in Forest Park featuring a historic 1903 carousel, train ride, and kiddie attractions. Best for families with young children seeking vintage charm over modern thrills.
If you cherish things from the past, then you will enjoy taking a ride & pictures of this original carousel. Just the faint smell of the oil that gets this huge ride going is enough to take me back in time to 1903, when this ride was built. It was moved here in 1972 from Massachusetts. The front horses (amongst other animals), in the front remain stationary, while the horses in the back on the upper level traditionally go up & down. This carousel moves rather faster than most of today's common carousels, and is much larger in comparison as well. It is worth the visit to take a ride on this beauty! My toddler daughter had a blast & this is 1 of her favorite carousels now.
π Family Action Verdict
Perfect for families with toddlers and young children who appreciate vintage charm over modern thrills. The historic 1903 carousel is the main attraction in this small amusement area within Forest Park. Best for a quick stop during a park visit rather than a destination outing, given the limited number of rides.

βAntique carousel hidden in a tiny "theme park" in Forest Park. It's definitely seen better days, but it runs! Depending on who is running the carousel, may impact music selection? Not sure. First time I went, they were playing pop music and the operator let us ride twice since there was no one else there, but the second time I went they had classic carousel music and no offer of a second spin around even though there was no one else in sight on any of the rides or the entire area.β

βI really enjoy coming here with my daughter. Sheβs always so happy just with the train, the horses, and even the frog ride (although it was unfortunately closed most of the time). I think this kind of entertainment should be more appreciated β itβs simple, fun, and brings joy to both kids and adults alike.β
