1 / 2Goat Climbing Gym
📍 Hackensack, NY
Indoor climbing gym with walls reaching 70ft — tallest indoor walls in the region. Instructors like Christian and Darcy deliver structured 1:1 lessons for first-timers, especially under-10s. Weekly Tuesday meetups welcome all levels.
Really like this place. Tallest indoor walls I ever seen! 70ft! I’ve met people that come from Brooklyn just for the 70ft walls. It’s relevantly smaller gym otherwise, thus the reduced monthly price compared to other bigger climbing gyms. Also one of the only gyms that gives you a good deal for the 10 pack. I was given 2 additional passes(12 total) vs most other gyms that are $30/day pass and $300/10 pack(no real incentive to buy in bulk). Really cool community, friendly staff, and chill atmosphere. Love the balcony and recreation area on the mezzanine level, cool place to chill, have lunch and play ping pong. Overall dope spot.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with kids 6+ who are new to climbing, especially children under 10 who benefit from dedicated 1:1 instruction. Instructors are consistently praised for patience and clear communication.

“Had a fantastic first experience at this gym thanks to the staff. They are very accommodating and understanding! And the day was extra special thanks to Darcy and Marissa. Goat Gym has always been out of my way, but I'll definitely be coming back sooner than I originally thought. Darcy runs an excellent orientation. He made it feel like an open forum of learning; it was engaging! How do I book a second orientation? 🤔 And Marissa is a swiss-army-knife problem solver. She could just read my face and point me in the right direction; she was that good. Thank you to all the staff”

“Took my nephew to this gym for his first ever climbing lesson! He is under 10 and we booked a 1:1 to get a good intro. Christian was the assigned instructor and he was INCREDIBLE with my nephew. Christian was communicative, beyond patient, provided gentle instructions, and listened to my nephews questions, observations and concerns. Christian was so attentive, made my nephew laugh and provide a memorable experience to our family. Thanks so much Christian!”

“Had such a great experience at Goat Climbing Gym! This was my first time ever rock climbing and I was definitely nervous, but Marlena and Tommy were AMAZING. They coached our group through everything, hyped us up the whole time, and really made us feel comfortable and confident. Top-tier customer service for real!I had so much fun and will 100% be back. Thank you!”
