Heckscher Farm
📍 Stamford, NY
Well-maintained farm at Stamford Nature Center featuring friendly farm animals, an exotic animal room with lizards and spiders, free-roaming ducks and geese, nature trails, and a nature playground with a large slide.
Basically the stamford nature center. Very nice spot, relaxed, plenty to see. Bring a lunch. Spend some time at the cool playground, walk the trails. Don't miss the lizard/spider building (go straight past the otters to the first structure. Next to bathrooms). If you take the city bus in, it's free!
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families who want more than a standard playground — the combination of hands-on farm animals, an exotic species room, and a proper nature trail makes this a full half-day destination. Children who engage actively with animals will get the most out of it.

“Excellent petting farm - very friendly animals, make sure to check out the exotic animal room, and the nature playground for a huge slide. Ducks and gees roam arouns free. Not a free place but well worth $44 for 4.”
