1 / 3Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park
đ Harbor City, CA
Regional park surrounding Machado Lake, a Southern California migratory bird habitat hosting 300+ species. Features playgrounds, hiking and bike paths, a fishing pier, disc golf, and barbecue and picnic facilities. Free entry and parking.
The ambience in this park is very peaceful the nature sounds the birds and very clean cut grass. A lot of spaces for picnic areas and a lot of shaded trees to rest on.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families with older kids and nature-curious children who enjoy wildlife, open space, and mixed-terrain trails. The paved paths are scooter and bike-friendly. Bring hand sanitiser â duck and bird droppings are common near the lake's edge.

âThe park is absolutely huge!! Definitely a nice place to come have a cookout or picnic with kids & family. There's a very big lake at the center of the park. There is plenty of parking/tables. And the open space is great for bikes or scooters. One of the downsides is the trail does not loop around the lake. Also there a few homeless encampment around the park. There is staff on sight that looks like they try their best to keep the park clean. Unfortunately due to the large amount of ducks there is alot of duck poop. Along with all the poop from irresponsible dog owners (park provides bags).â

âPark is large and beautiful; with a walking path, man made lake and several small streams. Lots of wildlife as well as shade trees, benches and vista points. There are several parking lots around the park. At present the workout/climbing area is open, but the large playground has been closed with a large fence and caution tape around it for the last few weeks.â

âA great mix of topologies. Tons of animals to observe. Nicely paved for walking but also optional unsaved paths. Nice playgrounds. There's really something here for everyone. My only gripe is the visible trash. Its not obtrusive, its simply an opportunity for improvement.â
