I needed to return a gift to Saks Fifth Avenue.....wait, that was like 20 years ago where Level Up is now...lol We couldn't wait to see what they had done to the massive former Saks/Pottery Barn space and it took FOREVER for Level Up to materialize from the rumors we had heard a couple of years ago. A bowling alley actually on "The Hill"? NO FREAKING WAY! I thought I had died and gone to heaven but I was apprehensive and hopeful. If TWO bowling alleys in Torrance couldn't survive the test of time, how could one in P.V. do it? RIP P.V. Bowl & Gable House, by the way. Level Up is off to a really fantastic start and despite what the other reviewer Reiko said in her review poo-pooing the place when she didn't actually EAT, DRINK, BOWL or PLAY and didn't have reservations on NEW YEAR's EVE (!!). Come on...how can you leave a negative review for something like the best restaurant in L.A. when you haven't made a reservation and haven't dined there? When we arrived for our 5pm reservation (made easily online just a few days prior), the place was hoppin'! It was packed full of fun loving people of all ages having, well tons of fun. It was great to see. The costumes for 4 bowlers for 1 hour at that time was $60. We desperately needed something like this on The Hill, somewhere where busy families can convene and have a really great time. The staff was friendly and helpful and the family was quickly outfitted in shoes right after checking in. There are 14 beautiful new lanes in total with 4 of them separated by a wall at the back so that a private party could have an area to themselves. What a fantastic idea! We made it over to Lane 9, set up our bowlers and were off. No more are the archaic computerized bowling systems that take forever to figure out how to set up. You can even have your picture up when it is your time to bowl. The designated area for each bowling party is sized well with two large tables. With another bowling party in the next lane, it might feel a little cramped especially with little ones crossing into our area but we didn't mind that at all. There's also extra seating behind your 'bay' in the form of a bar and barstools. The area was very comfortable and very clean. One thing I wished that they had was an area for your shoes. Usually you can put your shoes underneath the banquette at bowling alleys but we just had them scattered beneath the two tables. The backdrop at the end of the lanes was an awesome animated screen scrolling through various themes and images; pretty nifty! We liked that the bowling balls provided by Level Up were in the form of billiard balls with the ball weights clearly displayed in big numbers. Service was great; we asked for a pitcher of water and it came promptly and with a bunch of glasses. The food at the lane next to us (pictured) looked great and when I asked how it was, they said it was very good. Level Up is huge, bright and inviting with a massive area with tables next to the good sized bar with a very good selection of frosty beers on tap (we ordered and enjoyed a couple). There are two dart 'bays' with animated targets and real darts that looked really cool. I definitely want to come back and play some rounds. I actually didn't check out the arcade area but the boy reported that they had a bunch of games he wanted to play IMMEDIATELY including two skeeball machines. I look forward to seeing this place really thrive on The Hill. Unlike restaurants that always struggle in our area (aside from The Red Onion), I truly think this place will be a huge hit and provide a unique outlet for our kids and families and get them playing together instead of on their phones or other electronics....well, aside from the arcade but you know what I mean. Truly, I didn't want to place Level Up on the Yelp map for fear the big secret gets out but for the sake of their future success, I gave in. LOL.. HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for families with kids aged 3 and up who want bowling alongside real-quality food and an arcade. The bright, clean environment works well for birthday parties and casual family nights. Book at least 90 minutes per session β€” one hour is not enough for a full group to finish comfortably. Reservations recommended for weekends.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Book 90-minute lanes rather than one-hour sessions to avoid rushing
⏰Reserve online a few days ahead for weekend and peak times

β€œI loved how this bowling place is bright and clean! Awesome for a daytime bowl/party. We had the VIP area lanes, used 3 lanes I only booked 1 hour but I should have booked 90min, we had trouble finishing up on time. ample room and tables to put up decorations etc. Delicious bloody Mary’s, beers, and chicken tenders! Service was awesome, staff seemed cheery and very helpful. Even shoes were efficient and clean. Parking in garage right next door was convenient too….. easy to bring brownies in from the car! Bartender even lent me a lighter to light the candles, came in clutch β™₯️ Will definitely come back!”

β€œThis new bowling alley is a fantastic addition to town. The lanes are clean, modern, and well-maintained, making every game feel smooth and fun. The arcade is excellent, packed with a great mix of classic and new games that keep everyone entertained between frames. These two employees Maurya and Kadin especially made this a great experience, they deserve a raise. The food is another big win: fresh, tasty, and conveniently brought right to your bowling alley, so you never have to miss the action. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and tons to do, this place is a must-visit.”
