A large size playground for kids of all ages. It does not have a fence around the playground to keep it separate from the BBQ’s and picnic tables so it can get tricky keeping an eye on your children. During peak hours the parking lot can get up to a 15 mins+ wait times or even blocked from entering. There are public restrooms which is always a nice welcome with kids. An ice-cream truck is usually stationed to provide treats(on the expensive side). We go to this playground at least once a month and best times are before 10:30 or after 4:00 as far as parking goes. A word of caution when it gets busy some older kids are not quite as friendly going onto the large slide and will shove their way through. Our children have experienced this several times on multiple occasions, unfortunately. Other than that it is a wonderful playground and how can any parent not soak in the views of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Verrazano Bridge, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty 🗽🇺🇸 🛝 👍😀

🏆 Family Action Verdict

Best for families with children aged 3-10 who want an expansive outdoor playground with genuinely iconic views. The scale of the play structures rewards energetic kids who want to climb and explore. Families with toddlers should plan for close supervision given the unfenced layout and crowd levels on warm weekends.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

💡Navigate to 535 Freedom Way for the parking lot closest to the playground
Arrive early on warm weekends — peak parking waits can stretch beyond 15 minutes
🎟️Pack sunscreen and water as shade within the play area is sparse
🚗Bring a picnic and use the BBQ grills for a full afternoon outing

Wonderful place to hang outside for families and friends. Huge playground for kids to enjoy and exercise. Plenty of picnic tables. There are plenty of BBQ grills on the playground. You can bring your own. The views on New York and Jersey City are astonishing. There are bathrooms on location. Only one bummer is a small parking lot. If it is a prime time you won't be able to find a parking spot. There are other parking lots but it's kind of far. One more bonus is Ellis Island just in front of you but you can only look at it and take a pictures because the bridge to the Island is closed.

A large and open playground in the shadow of New York and Statue of Liberty. The play equipment consists of 2 LARGE play structures and a kid friendly obsticle course. The entire play area is surrounded by picnic tables and benches with shade. A public bathroom is nearby and parking was free. If your feeling adventurous you can talk the walking paths and see the sights.

One of the most beautiful and innovative playgrounds I have ever seen. Themed animal forest and water wonderland. There is lots to do here - from climbing to slides to balancing. Great for children 3-10. Restrooms and plenty of picnic tables nearby.

Overview

Liberty State Park Playground features two oversized themed play structures and an obstacle course on rubber surfaces, surrounded by picnic tables, shaded benches, and BBQ grills. The Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty form the backdrop. Public restrooms are nearby. No enclosing fence separates the play area from picnic zones, so supervision is active. Peak parking can back up significantly — GPS to 535 Freedom Way for the closest lot.
