Metrograph
π Manhattan, NY
Manhattan cinema on the Lower East Side specializing in art films, classic restorations, international releases, and exclusive premieres. Features assigned seating, The Commissary restaurant, and a bookshop.
Metrograph has the best programming in Manhattan, theyβre always showing interesting films and you can confidently see anything and know it will be quality even if youβve never heard of it before. Great snacks, the membership is worth it ($50 for the year, you get their streaming app, $11 tickets instead of $17, cheaper popcorn). I donβt live in NY and Iβm a member. I love this place and think about it often when I am away. Great magazine as well. I only wish the seats were more comfortable!
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with teens and cinephile older children who want quality film programming beyond the mainstream. Younger children will find the wooden seats uncomfortable for anything over 90 minutes. The restaurant, bookshop, and bar make it a full evening destination for older audiences.

βDefinitely my favorite revival theatre in NYC. Theyβre super accommodating, one time I was trying to see Possession with another person and they only had one seat left so they gave me swivel chair. Great programming, bartenders have always been nice, good picture and sound quality. Highly recommendβ

βGreat programing for film enthusiasts in a very sleek venue, multiple screens with a bar, bookshop and restaurant upstairs. Theaters are comfortable with graded seating that is always appreciated.β
