This place is awesome! Prices are very reasonable, and once you pay for admission you’re free to stay until the place closes for that day. One of the staff said there is no corporate involved, which explains why everyone is so friendly (I guess it’s still family owned). You also get a good workout in! The retro vibe is also amazing; everyone these days is trying to be modern and go for β€œthe next best thing,” while this place doesn’t change a thing. 5/5.

πŸ† Family Action Verdict

Best for confident skaters who don't mind crowds and can handle a busy, chaotic environment. The retro vibe and all-day pricing appeal to families, but avoid if you have beginners, need accessibility accommodations, or prefer a calmer skating experience. Consider visiting during off-peak times for a better experience.

ℹ️ What to Know Before You Go

πŸ’‘Expect long lines and arrive early to secure parking
⏰Avoid busy weekend sessions if you have beginner skaters
🎟️Be prepared for strict rule enforcement from staff
πŸš—Consider accessibility limitations - wheelchair users face policy issues

β€œthe place is a good time, don’t get me wrong but the hospitality is atrocious. I understand there are rules, we dont need to be reminded of them all the time. I got told to spit my gum out 3x- i wasn’t even chewing gum.”

β€œBe prepared for a line. When I went, there was a long wait just to get in, and once inside it was extremely crowded. It felt like a very high number of skaters on the floor at the same time. The rink itself isn’t huge, so with that many people, it felt tight. There were beginners falling, others trying to do tricks, and overall it felt hard to skate comfortably without worrying about bumping into someone. The strict rules are there, but with that crowd size it still felt chaotic. I personally felt on edge skating because it seemed like I might fall at any moment. If you prefer more space to move, this may not be the best time to go unless it’s during a slower session. For me, I prefer a rink that limits the number of skaters so it feels safer and more enjoyable. Not a critic, just sharing how it felt.”

β€œI am deeply disappointed by my recent experience at this establishment, which involved what appeared to be discriminatory treatment toward my child, who has a disability and relies on a wheelchair for mobility, unable to walk independently. Upon arrival, staff refused to apply the advertised spectator rate of $5, insisting on charging the full admission price of $19. Their explanation was that no children qualify as spectators, regardless of circumstance. This policy struck me as illogical and inconsistent: if a spectator option exists, it should reasonably extend to individuals who cannot actively participate, particularly those with disabilities. The refusal raised serious concerns about potential discrimination and noncompliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Throughout the interaction, the staff was abrupt, dismissive, and lacking in empathy. After leaving, I contacted the manager to discuss the matter. She informed me that pushing the wheelchair onto the roller rink would have been permitted. This suggestion highlighted several issues: 1. It was not offered at the time, when we were present and could have considered it. Communicating this option upfront would have demonstrated consistency in policy application and better training for employees. 2. While perhaps intended as an accommodation, pushing a wheelchair through a crowded rink of active skaters presents obvious safety and liability concerns. We likely would have declined for those reasons, but being informed on-site would have allowed for a more informed and respectful discussion. Businesses occasionally exercise flexibility with rules to prioritize customer satisfaction and accessibility, especially when serving families with special needs. In this case, the handling of the situation regardless of any strict legal interpretation showed a profound lack of compassion, foresight, and customer service. I cannot recommend this venue to others and would rate the experience zero stars if possible. I sincerely hope the management reflects on this feedback and implements changes to ensure more inclusive and empathetic practices in the future, but my guess is they won't be in business very long treating customers this way.”

Overview

Moonlight Rollerway features LA County's only original maple skating floor from the 1950s, hosting open skate sessions, themed nights including Disney and Bruno Mars events, and birthday parties. The venue offers skate rentals, a snack bar with pizza and nachos, private party options, and skating classes, though sessions can get very crowded with strict rule enforcement.
