Museum of Make Believe
π Laguna Beach, CA
Intimate micro-museum in Laguna Beach featuring a hand-painted immersive storybook forest with mystical trees, fireflies, sculptures, and a cobblestone path. Visitors follow a mystic map for a guided quest through the artwork.
We had a wonderful experience at the Museum of Make Believe. It is a small place, be aware, but the detail in the art is exquisite. The feel is whimsical and magical. We spent over an hour exploring the detail of the art and enjoying the scavenger hunt. The employee was incredibly friendly and helpful. I wouldn't recommend it for young children. To thoroughly enjoy it you want to be able to read the stories and really be able to study the detail.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with school-age children who enjoy reading, detailed artwork, and puzzle-based exploration. Three generations can find different layers to appreciate. The intimate scale makes it a focused hour rather than a half-day destination.

βThis was a nice little museum to walk through and explore. I visited with my best friend and he did the treasure hunt. I however, enjoyed just walking around looking at the artwork and taking pictures. They have a nice little gift shop as well. All the artwork throughout the museum was very whimsical and fun. I recommend checking this place out.β

βThis was an enchanting way to spend an hour or so. The artwork was whimsical and the storytelling, compelling. We enjoyed the quest and puzzles on the mystic map. I hope they are able to expand the space in the future so the story can extend into a longer, more complex tale.β
