1 / 3River Street Ranch
π San Juan Capistrano, CA
A charming petting zoo in the historic Los Rios District featuring friendly farm animals, mini train rides, and gem mining. Popular with families with young children for hands-on animal experiences.
Family friendly petting zoo, would visit again. The location is great - lots of food, shops and people watching in the area. Google maps took me to the far end of the pedestrian way and we got lucky with street parking after circling a few times. Very limited parking between the zoo and the train station. On the way out I noticed there was as a paid lot on the other end of the pedestrian way. Will use that next time. Fill out the wavier and get tickets beforehand to avoid the potentially long line. The feed tray isnβt cheap but makes the experience even better. The emu is terrifying but makes for great entertainment when it snatches food out of kids hands. The guinea pig area was nice - you get to sit with one animal and relax a bit. Not much seating in the petting area otherwise. If you visit, would definitely recommend making time to grab a meal and ice cream in the area.
π Family Action Verdict
This is an excellent choice for families with toddlers and young children under 6 who will enjoy the combination of petting zoo, rides, and playground activities. The location offers added value with shopping and dining options for parents. However, older children may lose interest quickly and the experience can feel pricey for what it offers.

βThis place is AMAZING weβve been coming here for 3 years since my toddlers were babies. First off thank you for considering military members, children under 3 free and for the beautiful renovations that have been made. We gladly are here the moment they open for 2-3 hours, there are animals, you can feed animals, tractor ride age 3+, a train ride, excavator ride, a pony ride, lamas, a playground!!!! Like everything your child would want lol. Thereβs new shops & a food like 10 steps away. Great job zoomars your employees are also great!!!!β

βThis is a really wonderful shopping and dining development that has something for everyone. 90 min parking is free if you validate and that's plenty of time to scope it out. However, if you have kids you will probably stay longer because the green park in the center and the petting zoo are huge draws. Plus, the restaurants are plentiful. I wish my Aunt was alive to see this to completion because it's a wonderful addition to a lovely area. Highly recommend a visit π π π π πβ

βI saw a video about this place on social media Media and saved it For later, since it looked like a fun place to take my son. He is almost 6 years old, and I'm always looking for fun ideas/things we can do on weekends. We drove here from Santa Monica (about an hour). Parking is located a few minutes away from the farm. Keep moving down the trail, and you will find it. We bought tickets online, so the check-in process was easy. We purchased a veggie basket to feed the animals, and we paid some extra $$$ so my son can ride the tractor and play on the excavator. οΏΌThere is also a playground on site and a horse ride. It was nice, but after an hour, my son asked to leave. Younger kids will enjoy it more. It took us 1.5 hours to drive back, so we spent more time on the road than actually experiencing the farm. What I like is that there are different shops and restaurants around the farm, and it's cute. Boutiques to shop for jewelry, clothes, shoes, HomeGoods, all kinds of stuff, so that was really nice.β
