Taking the Reins
đ Northeast Los Angeles, CA
Nonprofit equestrian program for at-risk girls set on an urban farm with horses, ducks, chickens, bunnies, and pigs. Participants typically commit for multiple years, developing riding skills and lasting friendships.
This is an amazing organization I was grateful to learn about through a volunteer group I am a part of called Gay4Good. I helped clean out the stables and dig some dead plants from a garden area. I love the mission of the organization and the women that run it. We need more things like this in our community.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families with girls aged 10 and up who are ready for a serious, long-term commitment rather than a casual lesson. The program's depth â years of riding, farm chores, and community bonds â produces outcomes that single-session venues cannot match. Families who volunteer through partner groups can also join clean-up and garden days.
