1 / 3Torsney/Lou Lodati Playground
π Queens, NY
Well-maintained Queens playground with separate play areas for different ages, dog runs, and a weekend farmers market. Perfect for longer family outings in Sunnyside.
Torsney Dog Run is the kind of place that quietly reminds you why living in New York can feel so communal. Itβs well maintained, thoughtfully designed, and clearly loved. Thereβs seating for humans, a water fountain and hose for rinsing down, poop bags always stocked, and big and small dog areas that actually work the way they should. Itβs the rare dog park that feels organized without losing its easy, neighborhood energy or charm. What makes Torsney special is the way it brings people together. On any given weekend youβll find dogs of every size racing around while their owners chat on the benches or sip coffee in the shade. My dog Daisy loves it here. She prances around like she owns the place, showing off for new humans and finding just the right pack of dogs to chase her. If thereβs a squirrel nearby, sheβs the first to spot it, tail wagging, ready for the chase. Watching her run full speed across the park feels like a tiny burst of freedom in the middle of the city. I usually stop by on weekends when the farmers market is set up just outside the park. Iβll grab a coffee and settle in, watching Daisy dart between friends under the trees. Itβs simple, joyful, and grounding. If you ever want to see Sunnyside at its most genuine, start here.
π Family Action Verdict
This is an excellent choice for families with children of various ages who want a full park experience beyond just playgrounds. The combination of play areas, dog runs, and weekend farmers market makes it ideal for longer family outings in the Sunnyside neighborhood.

βOpen space to run and play. Separate areas for smaller kids. Swings. Plenty of benches. Bathrooms. A separate space to let you pooch run free. The athletic fields are well-maintained, though closed now due to the βRona.β

βNice Clean city park. Sporting events are a regular activity. Dog areas as well. Typical playground equipment. The big bonus is the farmers market on Saturdays during the summer.β
