1 / 3Chelsea Waterside Playground
π Manhattan, NY
Modern Manhattan playground with separate water zones for different ages, a large sandbox, and a long-slide climbing structure. Free entry with public restrooms nearby near Hudson River Park.
One of the best playgrounds in midtown Manhattan, located at Chelsea, near the pier 62. Thereβs a big fun slider and a big sand box. There are public toilets nearby. It may get a little crowded at summer weekendsβ¦.
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with toddlers through early primary age during hot summer months β the dual water zones and sandbox deliver hours of outdoor play at no cost. Families with infants who can't and walk the wet surfaces will find less to do. Visit weekday mornings to avoid the intense weekend rush.

βGreat playground. Many enjoyable water activities to keep kids busy. The design is also awesome. Wish there was more seating for adults.β

βThe play structure are modern and sophisticated. There are two water area for older and younger kids, a climbing structure with a long slide landing in a visually clean sand pit. I would've given 5 star if not for the following COVID-related concern. During our visit there were a group of teenagers dominating the park without wearing masks. On top of that, about 50% of the parents took off their masks in the park. Also, the floor is very slippery, I've seen people of any age falling down while walking or running. So the parents definitely want to keep an eye on this.β

Overview
Chelsea Waterside Playground delivers three distinct zones: a water area scaled for toddlers, a second for older kids, and a large sandbox anchored by a climbing structure with a long slide. Shaded sections keep younger children comfortable in summer heat. Located at Pier 62 with public restrooms on-site. Weekday mornings see the lightest crowds.
