1 / 3Commonpoint Queens' Central Queens (Formerly known as Central Queens Y)
π Queens, NY
Indoor pool facility with excellent swim programs and patient instructors, though front desk service can be unwelcoming. Offers swim classes for all ages from beginners to advanced levels.
My son has been attending the swim program at Commonpoint for the past year, and I couldnβt be happier with the experience. The instructors are incredibly patient, kind, and genuinely invested in the kids' progress. I couldnβt have asked for a better team to support my sonβs swimming journey. A special thank you to Dawn, the program director, who goes above and beyond. She truly cares about the students and always takes the time to listen and help with anything you need. Her dedication and personal touch make a big difference. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a supportive and professional swim program!
π Family Action Verdict
This venue offers high-quality swim programs with exceptional instructors who are patient and invested in children's progress. However, the consistently poor customer service at the front desk creates an unwelcoming environment that may overshadow the excellent programming. Best for families willing to overlook service issues for quality instruction.

βThe community house provides important services, teachers are amazing, Classes are Fantastic. However, my experience with the front desk staff has been disappointing. The lady at the desk often gives us uncomfortable and unwelcoming looks, (I don't know if it is just me) It makes it difficult to feel at ease when entering the building. Her behavior feels unfriendly and dismissive. A community space should make everyone feel respected and included, and unfortunately, that has not been my experience.β

βFront desk woman is the antithesis of a customer service-oriented woman. I ask if I can do a day pass and she looks at me like I am taking up her time and says "no." I ask her if I can try out the Y (which I have done at other Ys and she says "no" and then "it depends on the day of the week" and then "it depends on the time of day/session" - and it was open swim. Finally she agrees to go back and ask if I can try it out. She comes back and says I can do a guest pass for $20. I fill everything out and then she said that she'll only take cash which I don't have so I have to leave without a swim workout and having met a very unpleasant human.β
