1 / 3Eileen Norris Cinema Theatre
📍 South Los Angeles, CA
Academic cinema within USC's School of Cinematic Arts featuring THX audiovisual technology, assigned seating with full reclining loungers, and a program of film screenings, festivals, and special events alongside academic use.
I have attended many screenings, festivals, love streamed opera events at the theater. Large theater with seats spaced far enough apart to not feel cramped. Usually fast check in. Clean. The only downside is that they redesigned the bathroom to now there is only one stall and one urinal for men. That can be an issue for large events and result in long lines and wait times. Otherwise a great venue.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Families seeking a comfortable, affordable cinema experience with genuinely spacious seating find this theatre delivers on both counts. The reclining loungers and wide aisles make it comfortable for longer films. Festival screenings occasionally include filmmaker Q&As, adding educational value for older children and teens interested in film.

“I just watched "Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl" (which was shown the previous day as part of the closing at the AFI Fest at the Chinese Theater) followed with appearances by the film's director, Nick Parks, & 2 staffers from Aardman (animation company) after the presentation for an hour's discussion. The movie would be available on Netflix this winter.”

“As a new graduate student at USC, I am blown away by the quality of the available facilities. I am an assistant for two courses in this theater and it is simply amazing to watch movies, new and old, in this beautiful palace of Cinema”

“We just discovered this theater, to watch the new Star Wars on opening weekend. For only $6.25, we got to choose our own assigned seats, and found that all the seats are these beautiful reclining loungers. The aisles have more than enough room for people to walk to their seats without disrupting anyone else. In very impressed with the theater, and will certainly return to this one again and again.”
