1 / 2Ray Stark Family Theatre
đ South Los Angeles, CA
Intimate USC cinema theatre with state-of-the-art projection including 3D capability. Hosts free RSVP screenings ranging from classic films to experimental works, often with live filmmaker Q&A sessions.
I used to screen films there back to my student days at USC. It is a cozy movie theater with beautiful decor and advanced equipments, and the best part is, the screenings of movies inside this theater are free with RSVP. There were lots of fond memories formed there, and I consider this hidden gem my own version of Cinema Paradiso.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best suited for families with older children and teens who have a genuine interest in film â the academic setting and post-screening Q&As reward viewers who engage actively. Free admission makes it an accessible outing. Sit toward the back rows for the best sightlines.

âState-of-the-art screening room; hosts an excellent free series of screenings and filmmaker Q&A's. Projection is top notch, and the audiences respectful. Only drawback is that, like most screening rooms, there's no food and drink allowed inside. Well, that and the location/parking.â

âVery nice, small theatre, but if you're here for a film, sit towards the back - the screen is waaaay too close to the front rows.â

âReally nice theater. The seats are very comfy and it is small and well maintainedâ
