1 / 3Kenneth Hahn Lower Park
📍 Los Angeles, CA
Multi-zone urban park featuring several playgrounds, a fishing lake with ducks and herons, panoramic city-view hiking trails, and pram-friendly lakeside paths. Parking fee applies. Suits families who want varied outdoor activity in one location.
Very nice place for hiking or spend times near the lake, some people fishing there. You need to pay 6$ per car to enter to the park, and plenty parking spot there, it’s worth to spend at least two hours there and enjoy watching fishes inside the lake or birds around it, or go to the mountain trail. Of course because of all these I believe is good for kids.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for active families who want variety in a single destination — younger children thrive on the flat lake loop and playground zones, and older kids and adults can push onto the steeper view trails. Plan for at least two hours to cover multiple areas without rushing. Bring water and snacks as on-site food options are sparse.

“Great place to go hiking or simple to take your kids on a walk. They also have different playground on different parts of the park. There are different parts of the park if you fallow the road all the way to the top there is a playground and hiking trail. Also have a river and ponds to enjoy ducks and goose swim.”

“This is a jewel in the state park system in the Los Angeles urban area. The upper trails around the Bowl have sweeping views of the city. The lower area has a fishing lake, playgrounds, picnic tables, and more. There are clean restrooms and ample parking. A peaceful place to take a walk and unwind...”

Overview
Kenneth Hahn Lower Park spreads across multiple zones — a fishing lake with bird watching, several scattered playgrounds, pram-accessible lakeside walking paths, and hiking trails that climb to panoramic LA city views. Trail grades reach 10–12% on steeper sections, so families with toddlers should stick to the lower lake loop. Picnic tables, clean restrooms, and ample parking are distributed across the grounds. Dogs are welcome on trails.
