1 / 3Loyola Beach Playground
đ Rogers Park, IL
Renovated lakefront playground at Loyola Park on Lake Michigan featuring large climbing fish structures, interactive musical instruments, separate play areas for older and younger kids, and direct beach access. Summer food available on-site.
The Loyola Park playground is a large playground directly next to the Loyola Park Beach on the shores of Lake Michigan. It features a large play structure for older children and a smaller structure for younger children. Unique elements of this playground include a large, metal fish suitable for climbing, an array of musical instruments, and a parent/child swing. The play surface is wood chips though the sandy beach is steps away. There are a few benches nearby and a few trees for shade though the location is quite sunny most of the day. This is a unique playground with great views of Lake Michigan.
đ Family Action Verdict
Best for families who want to combine Lake Michigan beach time with playground play, without driving to a separate destination. The climbing fish and musical instruments make it a standout versus standard Chicago playgrounds. Separate structures for different ages mean toddlers and older kids both find appropriate challenges.

âHas a fairly large, fairly interesting, playground right by the beach. Large trees and swaths of prairie grass provide shade and landscape interest. Hot dog stand with shaved ice and other treats make for perfectly satisfying refreshments. And the crowd here is chill, not like some of the other beaches in the city. Lifeguards on duty while we were here. Five big stars.â

âParking is typically the worst part about going to the beach, but, once you are there it's a lot of fun. There is a beach Cafe where food is available during the summer. My only turnoff about this beach is the occasional smell of marijuana. Also; nice playground for the kids to play on.â

âA great family friendly areas around the park. Fields, playground, food, fishing pier and a wonderful beach. The parking lots fill fast though.â
