TCL Chinese Theatre
π Hollywood, CA
Historic movie theater offering a magical old Hollywood experience with grand architecture and classic cinema atmosphere. Best for special screenings and families with older kids who appreciate the golden age glamour.
The Chinese Theatre is an absolute must see spot on your trip to LA or if youβre in the nearby neighbourhood. This is a very cool tourist spot in particular as the outside exterior is impressive and also thereβs a lot of celebrities hand and foot prints which you can see for free and take photos. I have provided a few below. I have NOT been in Theatre, although I intend to do so in the future but from seeing it outside and up close to the entrance itβs very cool and an awesome thing to add to a sightseeing visit. On the outside on the Main Street, there is some people trying to sell you stuff or tourist traps you could say but this isnβt fault of the Chinese Theatre.
π Family Action Verdict
Perfect for families wanting a classic Hollywood experience, especially for older kids who can appreciate the history and grandeur. Best for special movie screenings rather than regular visits. Be prepared for tourist crowds and street activity outside, but the interior offers a magical step back into golden age cinema.

βSome of the best movie watching experiences I've had have been at this theater. The main room is absolutely beautiful, both the screen and the architecture. It is truly a movie palace. I don't come here for every movie, but if there's a spectacle, there's no better place to go. Titanic 3D, Oppenheimer, Interstellar 70mm, Sinners... It's just absolutely gorgeous. Yeah, the plaza is ridiculously touristy and you have to wade through crowds and the bootleg Spider-Man and SpongeBob. But when you actually get inside, it's a little piece of the golden age of Hollywood that still feels magical.β

βGrauman's Chinese Theatre, now officially TCL Chinese Theatre, is a world-famous movie palace on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, known for its distinctive Chinese pagoda design, hosting major film premieres, and the iconic forecourt cement handprints and footprints of movie stars. Opened in 1927 by showman Sid Grauman, it features one of the largest IMAX auditoriums globally, serving as a major LA tourist attraction and working cinema for blockbuster events.β

βMust see. The history is interesting and the detail in this theater is outstanding. We watched a movie here and I would recommend anyone to do it at least once. Classic and historic. Checklist accomplishment.β
