An incredibly cool hands-on experience for kids. The sheer scale of steam trains cannot be conveyed in pictures alone. The awe in a child's eyes as they look up at a train taller than a building is worth the visit. The staff is incredible. Every person works with the spirit and enthusiasm of a person out of a movie. It is an experience of a bygone era, far beyond the train ride, itself. As a family, we cannot wait to go back.

“My son loved it! He's a huge train fan and got super excited to ride the train! Everyone was super friendly and kind. Most definitely worth it for the price! I will say the train ride wasn't very scenic but my son loved the sounds of the train and it was extremely nice! Don't bring a lot of bags with you on the ride there not a lot of space.”

“My family and I went on the Polar Express Train and it was unreal! The whole performance was spot on, the light show inside the cars was amazing and it really brought out the Christmas spirit! The people who work there are so friendly and it's a great place for the whole family!”

Overview
Whippany Railway Museum is operated almost entirely by passionate volunteers who bring hands-on railroad history to life. Seasonal themed rides run 30–40 minutes through Morris County. The museum grounds include vintage railway cars visitors can walk through, steam train exhibits, and educational displays. The Polar Express event includes a light show and full performance inside the cars. Packing light is recommended — space is sparse aboard the trains.
