Academy Museum of Motion Pictures
π Central LA, CA
Interactive movie museum with engaging exhibits across multiple floors. Great for kids interested in films, featuring costumes, props, and hands-on workshops.
It got pretty crowded, even for a Wednesday when we went, but it was awesome! There's 3 floors of exhibits, a theater that plays 35mm movies (We saw Moulin Rouge), and a nice top floor with an awesome overview of LA and the Hollywood sign. A very nice day trip type of place, took us about 3 hours to walk through each exhibit.
π Family Action Verdict
Perfect for families with children interested in movies and storytelling, offering 3-5 hours of interactive entertainment across multiple floors. Best suited for kids who can appreciate film history and don't mind crowds. The museum works well for both casual visitors and serious movie buffs.

βThe Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is an absolute must-visit for movie lovers. From the moment you walk in, youβre surrounded by the history, magic, and artistry of film. Seeing original costumes, props, and iconic pieces from classic and modern movies was truly unforgettable. The exhibits are beautifully curated, interactive, and thoughtfully laid out, making it easy to appreciate both the storytelling and the craftsmanship behind filmmaking. I especially loved how the museum celebrates diversity in cinema and honors legends who shaped the industry. The building itself is stunning, and the views from the top are amazing. Whether youβre a lifelong film fan or just curious about movie history, this museum is well worth the visit. I canβt wait to go back and explore more!β

βAll the exhibits are incredible. The museum is clean, easy to navigate, informative, interactive, and staff are engaging/helpful. I took my brother to this museum as a Christmas gift, and we spent nearly five hours there between enjoying a meal at the Fanny's restaurant to meandering through all the different rooms and exhibits. For only $25 per person for the whole afternoon and the quality of the exhibits, it's well-worth the money.β
