1 / 3Quad Cinema
📍 Manhattan, NY
Historic arthouse cinema showing independent, foreign, and classic films across four intimate screens. First-come-first-served seating with a lobby café and curated retrospective programming.
Quad Cinema is a indie theater which pursues modern theater vibes. It's lobby is spacious, with the basic snacks, popcorn, soda, pre packaged food, and the bathroom was quite clean. The theater has eerily red seats which look freshly upholstered, and while a bit tight if you are above average height and got some meat on your bones, they are generally comfortable. Also, nearly every week there is at least one movie with a Q&A and I haven't experienced bad audio yet regarding them. Picture quality is good, certainly not IMAX or Dolby, but a clear picture. Overall, if you want to see indie movies, this would be the place to go.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with older children and teens who genuinely enjoy arthouse, foreign, or classic films. The intimate scale and curated programming reward cinephiles. Arrive early — seating is first-come-first-served and fills fast for popular screenings. Not suited for young children or families seeking mainstream releases.

“Very clean pretty theater with good prices at their concession stand. All the staff here is very friendly and they even sell merchandise. This theater have four screens and lots of seating. They don’t do assigned seating so it’s first come first serve. A small popcorn is $6.50 and goes up $1 each size and their fountain soda starts at $4.00 and goes up $1 in size as well. Overall I would recommend coming here since it was a great experience.”

“Such a cute and cozy cinema. Not too big, which makes it feel really intimate and comfortable. Great atmosphere, especially if you like independent or foreign films. A really nice change from the big, crowded movie theaters.”
