Riverbank State Park Roller skating
π Manhattan, NY
Unique outdoor/indoor roller skating rink in Riverbank State Park with great music, friendly staff, and beautiful surroundings. Best for families wanting a fun skating experience in a supportive environment.
Beautiful Location & Great Vibes! Located deep inside the state park, this place was such a pleasant surprise β I never even knew it existed! The park itself is beautiful and spacious, and the roller rink is both indoor and outdoor, which makes it extra fun. I visited on a warm September Friday night for the 6β9 PM session, arriving around 8 PM. As soon as I stepped out of my car, I could hear some great R&B tunes (Mary J. Bligeβs βJust Fineβ was playing!) and I couldnβt wait to get in. Entry was just $2 since I brought my own skates. No bags are allowed on the rink floor, but they provide free lockers, which was really convenient. Once I laced up and hit the floor, it was nothing but a soulful mix of smooth R&B all night long. The crowd was a great mix of young and old skaters, and everyone seemed to be having a good time. The staff were friendly, helpful, and made me feel completely safe and welcome. I truly enjoyed the session and canβt wait for next yearβs roller skating season!
π Family Action Verdict
Best for families with kids who want to try roller skating in a supportive environment with great music and vibes. The outdoor/indoor rink offers a unique experience, but this is seasonal only and has inconsistent operating schedules. Check ahead before visiting to avoid disappointment.

βIt was very fun. Very friendly for a newbie. Just wear gloves and bring a helmet for extra protection. The shoes you can bring yours or rent it from there.β

βNice music, concrete floor but pretty smooth, there are lockers and benches. The location needs to be a year round location because there are no roller skating rinks around. There are plenty of ice skating rinks all over the city so this one should be converted to roller skating only. Walls need to be installed so that rollerskating can be done in the winter also.β

βSo many events here that the the staff of the facility isn't really helpful when I was in need of help. There no true waiting/lounge area for parents of kids participating in events. I was told there was a parking lot on premises but have yet to locate it. Parking is prohibited on the shoulder of the cul de sac but I've found that if you don't block the street and the public busses can come and go smoothly the police/staff won't bother you. Unfortunately there are some who will mess up the no parking/parking situation by blocking the busses path and we'll be asked to move. From the little that I've seen the facility seems to be kept nicely. The winter sports played have fresh ice smoothed by a Zamboni machine between activities.I've seen a snack store but have not been able to make purchases from it as I'm told parents are not allowed in that area at the times I visit.β
