1 / 2Tidal Force VR
📍 Manhattan, NY
Manhattan VR venue creating its own multiplayer experiences in-house — free-roaming for 2–6 players, 40-minute sessions, ages 8+. Motion sickness prevention built into every game.
I am writing this in the lobby, immediately after playing Room K. I need to catch my breath before I leave. That was intense! This date night was fun! I wasn’t sure that would be my boyfriend’s cup of tea but we’re both like, “We gotta do this again!” I have a Meta Quest 2 VR headset at home so I’m very familiar with immersive experiences. So I wasn’t sure if this would be like “yeah, I could do this at home” but these games are like bespoke! This isn’t an experience that’s repeated in other locations. Just here. In NYC. By the Flatiron. So as a company, Tidal Force isn’t just putting on some game that was designed somewhere by some company. THEY ARE MAKING THESE EXPERIENCES! From scratch! So the experience feels really curated. They took extra care to prevent issues like motion sickness, eye strain… You probably won’t notice because… You’re not meant to! It truly was seamless. OH!!! And probably my favorite part: You’re just in a regular room. Standing on a padded floor like at a gym. But when you are in the game (at least the game we played called “Room K”) you are on an elevator and… You would swear to God you are moving upwards! I even felt that slight compression in my knees like you do when an elevator goes up. I kept asking my bf “Are we moving???” Factually the answer was no. Every time. But your eyes are TELLING your brain, “We’re moving” and so your body agrees. It’s wild! I definitely want to come back. It’s really fun doing this with a friend because you get to see each other in virtual reality and it’s just so otherworldly! Hats off to these folks at Tidal Force. Their attention to detail: chef’s kiss! P.S. Attaching some actual shots from our gameplay.
🏆 Family Action Verdict
Best for families with teens who want a VR experience beyond what headsets at home can offer. Custom-built games and free-roaming movement set this apart from standard VR arcades. The motion sickness prevention works well enough that first-timers report no issues.

“I’ve never done something like this before and wasn’t sure what to expect but this was AWESOME…Please do it and share with friends. Super super realistic and amazing graphics and so much fun. Very exciting and scary as well at time but OMG I’ve never experienced such a thing before. Don’t walk - RUN to play and experience this immediately. PS. The folks running this are also the creators and makers of the game and super friendly and nice. Also, a note I usually get motion sickness with stuff like this but they have special equipment that helps with that tremendously and I didn’t have any sickness. We did room K, a little bit of escape room and then an all out space battle fighting deep space alien insects and other creatures. It was NOT as scary as I thought it would be, turned out to be high energy and so much fun.”

“Group of us went for one 40 minute session game and we did room K. We ended up staying for another 40 minute session immediately after and did viral. The entire experience is smooth from start to finish. George and Ahmed are amazing hosts, always available and addressed any issues we had. The VR experience itself is A+, the graphics are actually good, there's barely any lag time and the games themselves are immersive. I truly hope they expand and continue to make even more games and more locations. It is most definitely worth the cost and a great experience.”

“First time here, and wow, it definitely won’t be my last! We played the puzzles/alien game and it was absolutely amazing. The place was super clean, cool, and welcoming, with drinks available for purchase. Both bathrooms were spotless, and there’s even a water fountain which was a nice touch. Silmi was our host and she was fantastic, so helpful, polite, and really knowledgeable about all the other games they offer. I can’t wait to come back with my teen son and his friends… I just know they’re going to love it as much as I did!”
